Meet Josiah

07-15-15 Sparkbox

A smooth operator when it comes to numbers.

It’s easy to put people in a box. Especially those who focus on checking all the boxes and balancing the bottom line. But we try not to think that way at Sparkbox; we look for teammates who emphasize people. Even our bean counters know that people count most of all. Meet Josiah—our newest team member, accountant, and lover of people.

After working as an accountant in non-profit organizations for the last seven years, Josiah is happy to bring his talents to Sparkbox, keeping invoicing work smooth and clean for our clients.

“When good accounting processes are done right, you almost don’t notice that they’re happening.”

He definitely appreciates that doing his job well means that others are freed up to do their passions. That’s music to our ears—and our client’s.

But Josiah’s passions don’t begin and end with the numbers. If you’re looking for him after work, you’re likely to find him volunteering with his church or tutoring and mentoring young men in our beloved downtown Dayton. His time with the Victory Project helps to break the cycle of poverty for boys who are at risk. How can you not love that?

And when he isn’t out changing the world or keeping our Sparkbox world in order, you’ll find him escaping to other worlds. Josiah reads a book a week (what?!)—mostly of the sci-fi or fantasy variety. He also tries to leave the country once a year—England, Scotland, Wales, France, Uganda, Zambia, Mexico, Dominican Republic. And he’s quick to debate you hold a polite conversation with you about any hot topic from the sports world.

If you should cross paths with Josiah as you work with the Sparkbox team, introduce yourself and say hello. We’re sure you’ll be glad you did.
