Ben and Jeremy Recently Featured on Leading Blogs

04-10-13 Ben Callahan, Jeremy Loyd

Ben’s recent article on Web Standards Sherpa and Jeremy’s on Web Design Tuts Plus are now live. Ben introduces responsive retrofitting while Jeremy discusses typographic hierarchy. Both are great reads.

Responsive Retrofitting

Representing front end development expertise, Ben is contributing to Web Standards Sherpa in their efforts to “provide web professionals the opportunity to receive feedback, glean advice and learn best practices from experts in the field to help them improve the quality of their own work.”

Ben’s article, “Responsive Retrofitting,” introduces the concept of modifying CSS within the constraints of older, legacy sites to implement some responsive design techniques and improve user experience.

Understanding Typographic Hierarchy

Typographic hierarchy is a system for organizing type that establishes an order of importance within the data, allowing the reader to easily find what they are looking for and navigate the content. It helps guide the reader’s eye to where a section begins and ends, whilst enabling the user to isolate certain information based on the consistent use of style throughout a body of text.

Contributing to their series on web typography, Jeremy‘s article, “Understanding Typographic Hierarchy,” walks readers through five major techniques for creating hierarchy in type on the web: size, weight, color, position, and type contrast.
