Three Tracks
UI/UX Apprenticeship
January 2023 through June 2023
We’re looking for those who have design chops and an interest in user experience research, testing, and best practices on the web. This six-month apprenticeship teaches design principles, practices, and tools for the creation of excellent user experiences through beautiful interfaces. You won’t be in the code, however—this is more Axure, Figma, and usability tests than HTML and CSS.

Frontend Design Apprenticeship
January 2023 through June 2023
At Sparkbox, Frontend Designers are essentially designers who code. We’re looking for people with design chops, at least a beginning knowledge of web development fundamentals, and a desire to write beautiful, clean, accessible code. In this six-month apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to apply your design eye to the creation of a great user experience through the creation of production frontend code.

Full-stack Web Development Apprenticeship
July 2023 through December 2023
We’ve offered our Full-stack track for more than ten years, iterating and improving upon it every year. This year is no different. In this six-month apprenticeship, you’ll learn Sparkbox’s convictions on the priority of users, the value of design, semantic HTML, and mobile-first CSS. You’ll be exposed to our Github-centric workflow, deployment processes, best practices for clean code and separation of concerns, and unit-testing techniques.

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for the same things, no matter which apprenticeship track you’re interested in. Here are some core values we look for:
Hunger: The folks who make it to the final round of our apprenticeship application process all have a tremendous hunger to learn and grow, and they back it up with a history of experimentation.
Teachability: You must be open to constructive criticism. We’re going to challenge you and your current understanding of the web. For six months, we’ll give you guidance to dive deep and we expect you to be ready to soak it all in.
Diverse Perspective: We are working to build a team where we acknowledge our own faults, make all feel welcome, and humbly help each other grow. On our apprenticeship application, you’ll share how you can bring a unique perspective to the apprenticeship.
Are You Ready?
All of our apprenticeships are a fully remote learning experience. Each remote apprentice will be expected to be available and ready to engage during the hours of 9am–5pm EST, Monday through Friday for the full duration of the apprenticeship.
