Meet the newest addition to the Sparkbox family in Pittsburgh: Lindsay, an animal-loving, Boston-native, full-stack developer. She prefers the term “multi-faceted web builder” because she’s interested in contributing to all web aspects—from content strategy to UX/UI and design, on through frontend and backend development—though her primary focus on our team will be to write code.
As an English major, Lindsay didn’t ever envision a career in web development but signed up for a computer science class just to burn an elective credit requirement. Through that class, Lindsay sampled the world of computer programming and wanted another byte. It was then that she decided to add a Computer Science minor to satisfy her new tech appetite.
While interning at her college library, Lindsay was tasked with building a website to house the data collected from 19th century Quaker asylum records. That experience catapulted her onto a web development odyssey.
Lindsay gleaned all she could from online courses, tutorials, and Girl Develop It classes and eventually began putting those skills into practice at a web studio in Pittsburgh. She asked questions—LOTS of questions—and soaked up everything her fellow developer co-workers poured out. Lindsay’s inquisitive nature helped her gain the acuity needed for full-stack development. And we’re so glad she did. Our clients will reap the harvest of that brain-field sprouting with knowledge.
When Lindsay isn’t adding skills to her budding repertoire, you might find her sailing, volunteering at the Humane Society, or searching for the world’s best chocolate chip cookie. She’s mildly obsessed and is literally known at her neighborhood bakery as “the cookie girl.”
Stop over and say hello to Lindsay. Bring a cookie or two.
